Hunter Education

The Tisdale Hunter Education course registration will be December 8th or 15th in the Wildlife room at the Tisdale Recplex. The next course starts January 6 2025.

Tisdale’s Hunter Education program runs for 13 weeks. There are 2 classes; Mondays and Thursdays. 6-9pm. Minimum age is 11 years old.

We also offer the Canadian Firearms Safety Course with Hunter Education. After passing the CFSC you can apply for your firearms license (PAL – Possession and Acquisition License). Minimum age is 12 years old.

What can you expect to learn from this course?

As with many things, you get out what you put in. Your instructor will begin with firearm safety and teach you many things about firearms themselves: how to carry and shoot firearms; how to load and unload, clean and store firearms safely.

You will learn the basic skills you need to handle a firearm and hunt safely. The second part of the course teaches you what is expected of you as a hunter. What do you think a good hunter should be? How should he or she behave?

We will look at these questions and discover things like a good hunter knows how to identify game. A good hunter causes no problems for landowners. A good hunter knows how to look after him or herself in the outdoors. A good hunter understands what is involved in wildlife management. A good hunter knows and accepts responsibility for his or her actions.

So you enjoy the outdoors more and the wildlife resource can benefit from your knowledge and actions, we want you to become a good hunter. Successful completion of this course will allow you to purchase a hunting license in Saskatchewan and set you on your way to being the best hunter you can be.
